Job Description

The Elevate Counsellor is a paid position responsible for the direct spiritual mentoring and safe supervision of youth participating in the intensive Elevate discipleship program. This role is crucial for delivering the curriculum and activities planned by the Camp Pastor, fostering a strong faith environment, and serving as a positive role model for campers.

Duties & Responsibilities

I. Program Delivery and Mentorship

  • Deliver all discipleship curriculum, activities, and schedules as prepared and assigned by the Camp Pastor.
  • Provide direct spiritual mentorship, care, and guidance to a small group of Elevate Campers, helping them develop strong faith and competency in service.
  • Lead daily cabin/small group devotions and discussions.
  • Set a consistent, positive, and faith-centred example for all campers.
  • Set up, execute, and clean up all Elevate program activities and spaces.

II. Camper Safety and Support

  • Ensure the physical, spiritual, and emotional safety of all assigned Elevate Campers at all times.
  • Know and enforce all camp policies and procedures, including specific.
  • Participate in assigned general cleaning duties, which may include bathrooms, common areas, dishes, and program spaces.
  • Report all incidents, policy violations, and camper concerns immediately to the Camp Pastor.
  • Participate fully in all Elevate activities and general camp programming.
  • Alternative duties will be assigned during Family Camps.

III. Reporting and Feedback

  • Actively monitor the effectiveness of program delivery and camper engagement, providing observational feedback to the Camp Pastor.
  • Submit detailed reports on camper progress and any program anomalies to the Camp Pastor.
  • Write personalized follow-up cards for each assigned camper and ensure campers complete the camp session survey.
Qualifications
  • Alignment with the camp’s mission, values, and culture.
  • Strong desire and ability to mentor and disciple youth.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience working with youth (counselling, teaching, or small group leadership).
  • Current First Aid and CPR Training (or willingness to obtain).
Working Conditions

The Elevate Counsellor will be on-site for the duration of the program. Room and board will be provided.

Training

The Elevate Counsellor will receive 4 days of staff training. This training will include facility orientation, policy and procedure training, camper check-in and registration, team-building activities, and compensation review. We will also highlight workplace health and safety practices.
