Read | Every Child, Everywhere, Growing Every Day
Today is my second last day of work before I begin a 12 week Sabbatical. While I am away, Bradon Pihowich will be sending out a prayer update each week, and I will continue praying for Covenant Bay and our world, and I will be praying for you as well.
Jesus makes this crazy statement. He says, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
Matthew 7:7
Often we will focus so much on making sure our request is noble and pleasing to God that we forget to share our hearts with him. So I will ask you a question, and I want you to respond without thinking about the question. Whatever comes to mind, say it aloud to yourself.
What do you want Jesus to do for you? Not for someone else but for you!
I have no idea what you said. Some of you may have said something immediately. Others of you were speechless, unsure what to say!
Now here is the follow-up. Sit in silence with God. Listen quietly, note what he brings to mind, what emotions you begin to feel. Give yourself the space and time to listen well. What does Jesus have to say about your request?
Again, some of you may hear something immediately, and some of you will need to wait on God. Regardless find this posture of listening often and continue to make your requests known to God.
I usually have three things that I give to help us pray each week. Well, today, I have a memorable and straightforward prayer that I would like you to pray with me.
Every Child, Everywhere, Growing Every Day in a relationship with Jesus!
Thanks for your prayers. I say this all the time, and it is because I mean it. There is no ministry apart from Christ. There is no possible way to serve in any capacity without Christ empowering, equipping and providing for his people to serve. Also, without Christ, for what purpose is there to serve? So with that in mind. I cannot express the critical need our world has for Christ. So pray with urgency and expectation! I will chat with you in 12 weeks!
Jon, I think you need some time off and it is great that you are doing that.I will continue to pray as our team needs that. Your weekly comments really help me staying on track as well.We all need to look out for each other too.
