Junior High Fall Retreat

Theme: Firm Foundation

Each of us wants to be accepted, admired and valued. The trouble is, lies sneak up on us, and we can sometimes fall prey to a message that isn’t true. We can feel great for a time, but eventually the lies we believe catch up with us and through some difficult circumstances, we can feel hurt, betrayed, angry, scared, guilty or lonely.

It’s just not right for anyone to build their lives on a lie verses the truth!

It makes us sad when we see this happen because it always leads to a bunch of pain! We want to help young people learn a better way. We will address the biggest lies students face. We will teach Jesus’ truths about these topics. We will practice reading God’s word, asking good questions, and learn to find the answers.

When we learn to build our lives on the foundation of Jesus’ teachings, we can withstand the storms of life and thrive. When we know the truth, we can avoid many of the storms in life that come about when we believe the lies this world tells us.

We go from being vulnerable to the storms of life to being solid and resilient, as our foundation is Jesus Christ!

Jr High Fall Retreat Speaker

Jonathan DuHamel

Jonathan DuHamel is driven by his mission to share the life-altering love of Jesus with students. As a Youth Unlimited Missionary, he is deeply embedded in his local high school community, running a daily drop-in, coaching sports, and leading school clubs. He also co-leads a Youth Centre and facilitates a weekly Youth Group. The most important people in his life are Jesus, his "wonderful wife" Heather, and their three children: Joy, Titus, and Uriah. Jonathan's hope for every audience is that they will personally experience the transformative love that changed his life.
